Archana (Renate Cusch) is an Accredited and qualified Satyananda Yoga Teacher and holds a Diploma of Satyananda Yoga Teaching. She has been practicing yoga since 1994 and has been teaching since 2000.

About the Diploma

The Satyananda Yoga Diploma is one of the longest yoga courses of 3 years. It is a recognised accredited course. The Diploma includes Yogic Studies and Teacher Training Modules.

The Yogic Studies component involves an in-depth understanding into the area of Yogic Psychology which covered:

  • the yogic understanding of consciousness, awareness, mind perception & cognition, personality, intellect and emotion
  • practical tools for managing the mind and examines yogic views and treatments for mental problems
  • the therapeutic effects of yoga practices and yoga therapy.

Other areas of the yogic studies component included:

  • multiple branches of yoga
  • exploration into the dimensions of the human experience
  • flow of energy
  • workings of the mind and the nature of subtler spiritual experience
  • in-depth exploration of the Yoga Sutra's of Patanjali
  • theory and practice of yoga through yogic texts such as the Bhagavad Gita

The Teacher Training component included:

  • Yoga Physiology - an examination of the subtle dimension and energy systems of the human organism from a yogic perspective.
  • progressive development and investigation of asana (postures)
  • pranayama (breathing control) . delivery of yoga nidra (yogic relaxation) instruction
  • understanding the effective techniques of mudra's and bandhas
  • strategies for building and delivering balanced and satisfying classes
  • applied human anatomy and physiology with the depth and focus necessary for safe and effective teaching

Renate's Background

From 1991 to 1999 Renate worked in the IT corporate sector and was a founder and shareholder of a computer training business, and was involved in establishing an office in Canberra and then Melbourne. In 1993 she attended a yoga class which was incredibly helpful in managing the day to day pressures of the high workload. She found the benefits so enormous that she was inspired to become a teacher.

Renate undertook and completed the Diploma of Satyananda Yoga Teaching in 1999 and began offering yoga classes, workplace presentations and workplace yoga to the community and a variety of Government and Private organisations.

While completing the Diploma Renate moved into the area of Human Resources within a Learning and Development area. She delivered and developed leadership and management programs. She has experience as a facilitator of workgroups which involved team building, communication and personal self awareness.

In 2008, Renate was successfully accredited as a Qualified HBDI Instructor. HBDI is The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI®. It is the world's leading thinking styles assessment tool. It identifies your preferred approach to emotional, analytical, structural and strategic thinking. It also provides individuals with a significantly increased level of personal understanding.
